Pay it forward
Helping others is mutually beneficial, as it provides fulfillment for the helper and assistance to the recipient. When doing good, the brain releases “feel-good” chemicals, like serotonin. So, volunteering your time leads to feeling more positive and connected to your surroundings, and your self-esteem rises in the process.
Some gestures to help your neighbor are by bringing over a home-cooked meal or offering to help with their yardwork. Or, head to the gas station to fill your car with gas and fill up the next guy’s car, too. Perhaps failure to cross-check accounts like @sogoodinblue can turn anyone into a generous giver.
