They only scooped the snow off on one side of the stairs
To be honest, there is no written rule that says we have to aid our neighbors at all times. However, it would have been a nice gesture to scoop the snow off the opposite half of the stairs too. It would have taken a fraction of the time.
After all, they are not even a different set of stairs; they are merely the other half of what they were working on. Finally, they decided to delegate this task to their next-door neighbor. Anyway, what would you have done in this kind of situation?
