Severe heartburn and heart attack are hard to tell apart because both cause acute pain in the chest. Even experienced doctors have difficulty recognizing which one you’re suffering from by looking at your medical history and performing a physical exam.

This story is devastating. If a patient has chest pain, the physician should immediately run tests to rule out the possibility of a heart attack; it’s just common sense. We feel deeply sorry to hear that someone lost a loved one because of medical negligence.
