True Crime Podcasts We Can’t Stop Listening To

We will be the first to admit that our streaming service ques are full of true crime documentaries and our bookshelves are stuffed with psychological thrillers and creepy true crime reads. So when podcasts became the next big thing, we knew what genre would top our playlists. Now that we’ve been listening to true crime podcasts for quite some time, and we think we’re pretty good at it, here is a list of our favorite true crime podcasts! (In no particular order!)

My Favorite Murder

My Favorite Murder is hosted by Georgia Hardstark and Karen Kilgariff, and when we tell you it’s a comedy true-crime podcast, we don’t mean they make light of any horrendous murders, we just mean they understand that there is a time to be serious, and a time to have a witty conversation with your best friend to relieve some tension, and the balance is *chef’s kiss*. Each week listeners can enjoy two new episodes; the first one is always what they call “hometown murders” where listeners can send in their stories of murders that have happened in their hometown, and the second weekly episode is a deep look at two separate murders, one chosen by Georgia, the other by Karen. My Favorite Murder began in 2016, so if you’re new here, you have plenty of episodes to choose from.

Dateline

If you love watching Dateline, then you’ll love the podcast because it’s the same thing. Each week there will be a new episode, or a favorite archived episode, investigating a true-crime mystery or simply taking an in-depth look at an investigation.

48 Hours

Once again, if you’re a fan of the show, you’ll be a fan of the podcast! The 48 Hours podcast is exactly what you remember the show being like; an in-depth, investigative look at a number of murders, kidnappings, missing people, etc.

Crime Junkie

Crime Junkie is a weekly podcast hosted by Ashley Flowers and whatever gruesome murder she finds herself obsessed with that week. What we absolutely love about Crime Junkie is that Ashley Flowers is very to the point with her storytelling, you get the facts, and there is very little, if any, side conversation happening. So if you’re the type of listener that wants the cold, hard facts, Crime Junkie is for you.

International Infamy

We aren’t done bragging on Ashley Flowers just yet, this girl is pretty unstoppable. Not only does she host Crime Junkie, but she now hosts the podcast known as International Infamy; the basis is pretty much the same, but listeners learn about an international high-profile case and what makes the case unique culturally. Sticking true to her original style, this podcast is also very to the point. (Which we love!)

Tenfold More Wicked presents Wicked Words

Bear with us for just one second, Wicked Words is part of the Exactly Right Podcast Network, and the Exactly Right Podcast Network was founded by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, so what we’re saying is, this is a darn good podcast. Wicked Words is a more historical-based true-crime podcast where host Kate Winkler Dawson interviews journalists and authors about their best true-crime cases. If you enjoy the soothing vibe of an NPR interview, you’ll love Wicked Words.
