Place the blame
If I’d wanted to live with someone who is going to accuse me of everything, I would still share a room with my brother. Roommates may not be friends, but that doesn’t mean they should be suspicious of each other or be mean and drag each other’s name through the mud.
Pointing fingers should only happen once one is absolutely sure the person they are blaming is guilty. Calling the cops on your roommate for stealing your shoe if you have lost it will only unmask that you are reaching a peak of lunacy.
