Mom says you should not go to university in Austin because president Kennedy was shot there
College is usually the time when children move away from home. In cases where the school is far away, some parents may feel apprehensive about not having their child close to home. This mother did not want her kid to move so far and tried to dissuade them through any means possible.
Nevertheless, referring to an event that happened long ago and had nothing to do with their family is not the best strategy to adopt. The fact that Kennedy was shot in Austin almost sixty years ago says nothing about the state of the city today.
