This Cake is in its Natural Habitat
Everything from the tree to the slithering body coiling into the branches is all cake. The baker was very detailed in designing this Burmese Python made of Aussie mud cake, vanilla buttercream, and Rice Krispies treats. It is covered in a 50/50 mix of fondant and modeling chocolate. A plastic fluorescent light cover was used to create the diamond skin pattern. The tree is PVC pipe and wire covered in modeling chocolate with gum paste leaves.
Burmese pythons are one of the largest snakes and are listed as ‘Vulnerable’ on the IUCN Red List. In 2009, it was recognized as a distinct species. Jenny Kennedy made this cake for a friend whose daughter wanted a Burmese Python for her snake-themed birthday party.
