Now you see the stairs; now you do not
You might not be sure what the designer was thinking here, but it was not for other people’s safety, that is for sure. The design obscures the stairwell, resulting in a broken ankle waiting to happen. Perhaps, they wanted people to come in and fall flat on their faces.
This looks like something you would definitely find in a funhouse, not something you would want to deal with every time you enter your home. Perhaps, they should have painted a colored outline around the edge of the step so that people can see it when they go in.
