Traverse City, Michigan, took the world record for the largest cherry pie
The problem with trying to craft an item that can break a world record is that you might have to fight against another town to get the title. However, nowadays, it is easier to see if other people are up to the same thing. Back then, it was a different story.
Did you know there was a real battle between two cities for the largest cherry pie? Two different places in Michigan have made the world’s largest cherry pie pan. First, the town of Charlevoix took the title in 1976, yet Traverse City beat them eleven years later.
