Ice Machines and Drive-Thrus are Rare Outside the US: Redditors Share Subtle things Americans Think are Normal But Are Not

Prices are not transparent

This probably gets all the foreigners living in the United States every time. The first time you go to any store, it feels like it’s all a ‘Discount Isle’ because everything seems much cheaper. It’s not until they receive the bill that they learn the prices didn’t include the applicable taxes.

What’s the point behind that though? Isn’t it better to just print the price inclusive of the taxes so customers know exactly how much they need to pay rather than separately calculating for taxes?
