Isn’t it weird that an American will tell you how many ‘minutes’ away you are from a place rather than stating the distance? It’s weird to know that when it comes to traveling, the units of time are used to elaborate distance rather than the other way around.

Americans have an interesting theory behind this, saying how many minutes it’ll take you to reach your destination takes into consideration the traffic as well, which otherwise is neglected when you tell them how many miles you need to cover, so it gives them a better assumption of the time they’ll take.
