These bridges save animals from road mortalities, not spread diseases
Road mortalities threaten the lives of endangered species all around the globe. For this reason, The Netherlands built hundreds of bridges so that animals could move freely without hurting themselves. This approach to helping wildlife was met with resistance, though.
According to National Geographic, in Utah alone, 98 deer and three moose were killed within two years due to collisions with cars. Regardless of this person’s skepticism, the bridges must be successful since Holland has built 600 of them.
