The cone of shame would have been good to use on people
When dogs or cats have surgery, they are often outfitted with a cone-like collar to keep them from licking at their scars and tearing out the stitches or, even worse, provoking an infection to the wound. It would have also come in handy to keep a human from touching their face.
The comic illustrates the situation perfectly. Why should the cone of shame be used only on dogs? After all, touching your face is as much of an unconscious action for us as licking is for them.
