Romantic movies have lied to us, nobody wakes up looking that perfect
Romantic movies have deceived us. They’ve shown us romanticized ideals of relationships in which both partners wake up in softly lit rooms, where they have no morning breath and perfect hair. They never show us how real people start their days.
Especially when one person slams cabinets, stomps around, and turns on all the lights at the crack of dawn. If that is the dim reality we face, we would much prefer to wake up alone for the rest of our lives. No sleeping beauty here.
