Decades-old magazine hoard
When cooking shows weren’t that popular, people would use cooking magazines to find the latest fancy foods to recreate in their homes. I understand how this could quickly turn into a hoard, as they continue collecting every single edition published over the years since recreating these magazine model meals has become a tradition of sorts.
Imagine recreating a French dish from one of the cooking magazines, setting the table, lighting a candle, and pretending to be in France. A beautiful picture indeed. I hope by now you’ve learned a lot about hoarders and can understand that hoarding is a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), so most of it is uncontrollable and can only be managed. If you have a friend or loved one who is a compulsive hoarder, show them love and kindness because they truly see the beauty in their hoard while you may not. If the hoarding is extreme and bad enough to put them at risk, please seek help from a therapist. Thank you, and see you on the next piece!
