If you have Ophidiophobia (fear of snakes), you may want to sit this one out. This is definitely one of the oddest hoards ever. Snakes shed their skin because they no longer have any use for it, which is a sign of growth for them, so why keep them? It is unsanitary and creepy.
While hoarding snake skin may be weird, it is even scarier knowing some people hoard snakes. In 2014, a Californian hoarder was found with over 400 snakes, many of them dead or dying. He pleaded guilty to not being able to care for them as he should have. Contrary to the opinion of many reptile lovers, snakes cannot return affection like domestic pets. They do not like being touched, held, or pet because it riles them and puts them at risk of injury. So, just let them be!
