They thought they were making a sound investment
Every once in a while, a fad comes along that everybody believes will bring them vast amounts of fortune. In the 90s, there was the beanie baby craze and people bought them all up in hopes they would increase in value.
Unfortunately, they got the wrong toys. We cannot fault the person for leaving the Furbys to their heirs, they truly thought they would be worth something. Too bad they only left them with a nuisance.
