People are allowed to put clauses in their will to be certain that their wishes are respected. They can include all sorts of requirements; some make perfect sense, but others are a bit more puzzling.
It is hard to find a reason as to why the father had to live to a certain age before he could claim his mother’s inheritance. We will never know the reasoning behind that clause, but things seem to have worked out eventually.
