The best apology is to be funny
Nothing says “I am sorry” better than a box of chocolates except, perhaps, for a cake. Whenever someone makes a mistake, it is important to know how to fix it. The first step is to apologize to whoever is the wronged person.
It is also a good idea for the person in the wrong to highlight that they bear all the fault for having messed up. Blaming everything on your stupidity will surely earn some points and chuckles with the victim. After all, people can rarely stay mad at a funny person.
