When people are forced to share the same space, there will surely be some friction. We all have different personalities, so what bothers one person might not bother another. Jokers like this probably make everyone mad.
While it is true that keeping the peace and being non-confrontational is important, there is a limit to how much someone can take. Imagine making yourself a healthy, filling lunch at home and having someone steal it from the communal fridge. Not cool.
