Step-It Happy Meal Toys were Deemed Dangerous
The Step-it Happy Meal Toys was a massive let-down for McDonald’s; a better name for the toy would be “Misstep Happy Meal Toy.” First, it was as if McDonald’s had forgotten its target demographic and was now targeting what appeared to be adults in a misguided tactic to promote health-conscious choices. Secondly, this “toy” was controversial as nutritionists interpreted it as a clever ploy to shift customers’ attention away from the unhealthy nature of McDonald’s foods.
Although they looked cool and high-tech, the toys were also deemed dangerous as there were complaints of it causing skin irritations and burns on the wrists. McDonald’s attempts to promote health backfired, and they had to issue a recall of the toys.
