E.T. Posters
The movie “E.T. The Extra Terrestrial” was an instant hit when it premiered in 1982. As long as the science fiction genre is concerned, it will remain one of the great classics. But the same cannot be said for the McDonald’s Happy Meal “toy” inspired by the film.
As expected, McDonald’s capitalized on the rave of the moment, but instead of a toy, kids got a poster of the alien. Kids were even more upset with their treat when they found out their posters were covered in grease from their food. Three years after its initial promotion, McDonald’s would promote this Happy Meal Toy again, but it never caught on.
