If your admission essay is all about your mission trip, you might get rejected
Some things can make your application look good to the admission officers, like being on sports teams, taking extra classes, and doing volunteer work. However, that does not mean they can guarantee your spot at an Ivy League school, especially since the reviews have to go through hundreds of almost identical applications.
According to this student, if you apply for a scholarship, doing the same things everyone else does will not get you very far. Going on a mission trip is a great way to make good in the world, just not if you do it to look good and get admitted into college.
