The Jokester
It’s never pleasant being made fun of by your date, and certainly not in front of friends or family, especially when your partner knows about your discomfort at being made the butt of the joke. Even what may seem like an innocent inside joke is not appreciated or justified if your partner can’t take your feelings into consideration.
When your partner decides to spice up the evening by making elaborate jokes at your expense, keep in mind that they’ve most likely done this several times before, even in your absence. So, instead of suffering the indignity of being hurt or embarrassed by someone who is supposed to be on your side, excuse yourself or take a firm stance and let them know that their “joke” is not funny. It may be awkward, but if they care at all, they’ll stop.
