Prepare for the worst, just in case
We can only ever control our own actions and decisions. We can never control how other people behave or how everything will turn out in life. Therefore, being prepared for the worst-case scenario is always a helpful way to prevent being disappointed or caught off guard.
No one wants to end up in a situation where their roommate does not pay his or her portion of the bills. This can be prevented if both roommates set aside some “emergency money” at the start of the contract period or create a back-up plan in advance so that if something goes wrong, there will be a solution in place to handle unexpected obstacles together.
