Either get thick walls or thick skin
Sharing a living space with someone else means having to listen to what noises they make, too. If your roommate is a night owl and your place has thin walls, there will, unfortunately, be a lot of sleepless nights. At least there are gadgets galore these days that help drown out unwelcome noise and sounds.
So, rule number one while looking for a place to stay is to make sure that the walls are thick. Or at the very least, invest in a quality pair of earplugs, sound machines, or noise-canceling headphones. It would be easier to just live with a quiet roommate who loves a good night’s, but there’s no guarantee that such a roommate exists.
